Door Jamb Cleaning

Door jambs are often the most overlooked area in vehicle cleaning — yet they're one of the first things visible when someone opens a car door. The gap between the door and the body accumulates road grime, wax residue, rubber seal deposits, and general contamination that a standard exterior wash never touches. Clean door jambs signal a truly thorough detail.

Door jamb cleaning requires careful manual work with the right tools. We use a combination of all-purpose cleaner, detailing brushes of varying sizes, and microfiber towels to work through the grime in the door opening. The jamb itself — the painted steel surround — is cleaned along with the door edge, the rubber weatherstripping, the striker post, the latch mechanism, and the hinge areas. These areas accumulate a remarkable amount of contamination from rain splash, road debris, and general use.

Wax residue is a particular issue in door jambs. If wax has been applied to the exterior panels without protecting the jambs first, white wax residue builds up in the textured areas, along the weatherstrip, and around the hinges. Removing this requires a dedicated solvent or all-purpose cleaner and patient brush work. We address all wax residue in every jamb as part of our cleaning process.

After cleaning, the rubber weatherstripping is treated with a rubber protectant that keeps it supple and prevents cracking — dried, cracked door seals can lead to water ingress and increased wind and road noise. Painted steel surfaces in the jamb are protected with a light application of wax or panel wipe to prevent flash rusting.
